Newsflash:
Validation / dissemination of the results of the analysis of organizational and institutional capacities and of the capacity building plan for its implementation structures.

OCAL organized from 07 to 08 September 2017 in Cotonou a regional workshop to validate / disseminate the results of the analysis of organizational and institutional capacities and the plan to strengthen the capacities of its implementation structures.

The Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Organization has benefited from Global Fund funding since January 2016 for the implementation of the “HIV / AIDS prevention project for key and vulnerable populations along the Abidjan-Lagos corridor” . This grant focuses on strengthening the community system, defending human rights and gradually devolving the supply of HIV prevention services to national programs. As part of this devolution, the current grant has planned to strengthen the capacities of the entities implementing the project. A consultant was therefore recruited to analyze the organizational and institutional capacities of associations / networks of PLHIV, MSM, PS, girls / women and the 8 Information Units responsible for implementing the activities. From this analysis, she highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of each of these structures and proposed a capacity-building plan for them.

The implementation of this plan should enable them to acquire solid foundations for carrying out project activities and a quality background which will facilitate their access to other funding.

Aware of the key role that each of these structures plays in the decisive turning point that the fight against HIV begins, in particular in the implementation of the interventions arising from the declaration endorsed by all the countries at the 70th session of the General Assembly of Nations united entitled: Accelerating the response to HIV and ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030, a comprehensive review of this report was made by all participants.

Thus, on October 7 and 8, 2017, the various key players working with the target groups of the project carried out a consensual and meticulous validation of the document so that it was a reference document and adapted to the context of the corridor.
